The interior of the store is devoted to artistic displays of an immense stock of clothing, hats, shirts, collars, neck wear, underwear, hosiery, etc. First impressions are the best; clothes do it; the right kind; Harper's will. This business was established in 1906 and has since that time won a large patronage as well as meritious reputation. Six expert and courteous salesmen are on hand at all times. Mr. Joe Harper, the senior member of this business, was born in Livingston County, Missouri. He received his education in that county and was formerly engaged in stock and fruit raising in that county. He has been identified with the growth and prosperity of our city for the past twenty-two years, having had charge of the municipal light plant for three years, also being connected with the State Asylum for fifteen years. He was also treasurer of that institution for a number of years. He is a valued member of the K. of P. Mr. T. W. Harper, the son and junior member and manager of this firm, was born in Utica, Missouri, in 1885. He received his education in the schools and colleges of Nevada and since reaching his majority he has been associated with his father in this business. He is a valued member of the Elks and is highly esteemed in both social and financial circles. He is a young man of pleasing personality and has proven a valued asset to the business.


H. A. COULTER.

      One of the latest additions to the mercantile life of this city is the properly conducted meat market located at 1104 North Ash Street. An extensive line of fresh beef, pork, poultry, eggs, kettle rendered lard and produce is handled. Three courteous assistants are in attendance with quick service afforded all. Mr. Coulter opened this busines a short time ago, but owing to his up-to-date business methods, handling only the best, his popularity became assured from the start. Mr. Coulter also buys poultry eggs, hides, and produce in wholesale quantities, paying the highest market price in cash. These goods being bought for eastern markets. Mr. H. A. Coulter was born in Illinois. Previous to establishing this business he conducted an extensive live stock raising busines. He is a valued member of the M. W. A., W. O. W. and Yoemen.

THE JEWEL BAR.

      The jewel Bar at 109 East Cherry Street is among the most attractive of public resorts in Nevada, made more by the ever genial and courteous proprietor and assistants who receive and serve the flowing throng of patrons with an urbanity and good nature which evinces something more than the calculating exchanges of trade, and serves to keep the memory and associations of the Jewel warm in the hearts of visitors and patrons who comprise all classes of traveling public and a widening circle of Nevada's business and professional men.


HOME LUMBER COMPANY.

      The above mentioned firm are exclusive dealers in lumber and building

material. The offices and well appointed lumber and storage sheds are located at 223 East Cherry Street. This business was established in 1870 and comprises within its dealings all grades of lumber, sash, doors, roofing and building material of all kinds. This firm was incorporated in 1881 with headquarters at Carthage, Missouri. Mr. J. L. Hyder is manager of this mammoth institution in this city. He has been employed by this firm since 1888 and owing to his keen judgment, foresight and business acumen he was promoted to manager of this firm's holdings at Nevada in 1903. The business has shown a decided increase under this management and a large trade is enjoyed from the contractors and residents of this city and vicinity. Mr. Hyder was born in Tennessee in 1862. He received his education in Missouri and is highly esteemed by all.
