THE NEVADA HERALD.

      The Nevada Herald, a weekly newspaper published every Thursday in this city, became established in 1888. The paper is exceptionally newsy and has a paid circulation which amounts to 1800 subscribers. All kinds of job and book printing are turned out. Mr. O. W. Neff, also postmaster of this city, and W. F. Crigler, are proprietors of this paper. Mr. Crigler directly supervises the business, also being editor.


NEW THOUGHT.

      The New Thought Publishing Company with headquarters and offices at 215 Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, was organized and established in 1900 by William Walker Atkinson. This publishing company is devoted exclusively to the compiling and publishing of a magazine to meet the demands of a long felt need, that of the New Thought. It is a scientific magazine with 35,000 paid up subscribers, read in every civilized country. Is a handsome, neat and instructive book, sent to any address in the world for $1.00 a year. The New Thought is devoted to Suggestive Therapeutics, containing important articles in physic research, telepathy and self-healing by thought force. Mr. T. C. Weltmer is proprietor of this magazine. He is a resident of Nevada and has been for a long term of years. He is a graduate of the high school of this city and a valued member of the Masons.


L. H. McDANIEL.

      The printing office located at 125 South Cedar Street and operated by the

above named business man, was established in 1896. All kinds of artistic job printing, catalogue and book work, sale bills, cards and in fact everything which comes in the line of printing is executed properly, promtply and at moderate prices. The facilities used at this place are above those usually found in a town of this size in respect to capacity, modern improvements, etc. Six courteous and skilled employees are required. Mr. McDaniel was born and raised in this state. He has followed the printing business during the greater part of his career and is known to be an expert in this line. The work turned out such as this souvenir book always wins commendation as well as the highest appreciation from those concerned. Mr. L. H. McDaniel was previously city collector. He is a member of the M. W. A., I. O. O. F., and K. of P.


EVENING POST.

      The above named paper is one of the local evening papers which has won a reputation of high standing through conservatism and good judgment. This paper is printed on a modern improved newspaper press, the type being set by a linotype machine. The facilities are the best in the city. This paper was established in 1868. It has been under the management of the proprietors, Mr. R. W. Mitchell and Mr. Curd Mitchell since 1894. Mr. H. G. Foster is circulation manager.


WELTMER GREENHOUSE.

      Located just west of the city limits this greenhouse established in 1901, is a very necessary institution. A specialty is made of cut flowers, designs, decorations, of all kinds and raising bedding plants. 20,000 square feet of glass cover the houses and five gardeners and florist, are employed. Mr. Tracy Weltmer has been proprietor of this greenhouse for the past three years.


O. H. WOODFILL.

      A notable example of what can be accomplished in the face of the greatest possible opposition by a thorough knowledge of a business and honorable business methods is exemplified in the well merited success of this establishments, located at 113 E. Cherry Street. There are other establishments of this character which occupy more floor space but there are none better equipped or handle a more complete and up-to-date stock or quote lower prices. A large line of clocks, watches and cut glass are carried. A specialty is made of repair work, this department being superintended by an especially trained jeweler. Engraving and


watchmaking is also executed. This business was established in 1890. Mr. O. H. Woodfill, the enterprising proprietor, was born in Indiana. He is practical and thorough and recognized as authority on all subjects pertaining to the jewelers' art.


G. C. MASSIE.

      One of the successful concerns in our city and one whose name stands for honor and responsibility in all its business connections, is that named in the above heading. This firm was established in 1900 and occupies well equipped quarters at 416 East Cherry Street. The business conducted includes cleaning, pressing and repairing of ladies' and gentlemen's garments of all kinds. They also clean, block and shape hats of all kinds specializing this line, as they are the only hatters in this section. Mr. G. C. Massie was born in Kentucky, in 1862 and there educated. He was previously engaged in newspaper work.


J. R. DAVIS.

      Mr. Davis holds the responsible position as recorder of deeds of Vernon County. Mr. Davis was elected to this position four years ago at the county election, on the democratic ticket. He will be in the field this fall for re-election to this office. Four years previous, he was deputy circuit clerk. He is a member of the Masons, I. O. O. F., M. W. A., and secretary of the K. of P. lodge.
