Mr. Davis is a native of this city, having been born and raised here, and having spent twenty-five years in this line of work, six years of which was spent on the road traveling for the Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Co. He has mastered the shoe business from all points of view. He is a member of the Masonic order, the Knights and Ladies of Security, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Fraternal Union of America. J. H. KAYLOR & COMPANY.      The importance of Nevada as a medical center is duly demonstrated by the prominence and popularity of the J. H. Kaylor & Company Music House, located at 109 South Main Street. This business was established in 1894 and occupies 1,600 square feet of floor space, all of which is utilized in storing and displaying the fine line of pianos, organs, and musical instruments of all kinds, including the best makes in all lines. This business has grown to large
proportions under the management of Professor J. Hurley Kaylor, and at present amounts to over $12,000 annually. Professor J. Hurley Kaylor was born in Shelby County, Missouri, in 1869. He received his education in both Missouri and Kansas, holding a place of distinction in musical circles in a large number, of states. He has composed and published large numbers of popular pieces, both instrumental and songs, as well as band music. The Lake Park Schottisch is one of his compositions which was dedicated to the people of Nevada and Vernon County. |

      There is nothing more carefully selected than
a memorial to a departed friend. Certainly nothing is more regretted than
a mistake made in doing so. Great care is naturally taken in looking for
some one especially prepared to meet all demands. Such a firm is Smith
& Tuttle, proprietors of the marble and granite works at 118 East
Walnut Street. They have all kinds of granite and marble monuments, manufacturing
building blocks and executing and designing all kinds of stone work. They
also sell and install iron fencing, arch work, etc. Five skilled mechanics
are required and a reputation of high standing has been gained. Estimates
for work of every kind will be furnished with drawings and designs to
anyone contemplating work of this kind. An attractive as well as expensive
line of marble and granite is carried at all times. The work rooms are
thoroughly equipped to meet the demands of a large business; pneumatic
tools are used and all other improved machinery. The members of this firm
are J. T. Smith and R. M. Tuttle. Mr. J. T. Smith was born in Georgia
in 1863. He is a member of the I. O. O. F., K. of P., W. O. W., and Ben
Hur. Mr. R. M. Tuttle was born in Missouri in 1861. He is a |
valued member of the Ben Hur. They personally supervise the workings of this business, guaranteeing satisfaction and quoting reasonable prices. WILL C. DAVIS, THE ONE-PRICE SHOE MAN.       Mr. Davis is proprietor of the well appointed and heavily stocked exclusive shoe establishment at 102 East Cherry Street. This business was established in 1904 in a small way, but by keeping fully abreast of the spirit of improvement and progress which prevails among the better class of citizens and business men, Mr. Davis has built up a large trade and enjoys a reputation of high standing. The business has grown from small to large proportions with that certain prospect of continued increase due to unfaltering zeal and a mastery of all details pertaining to the shoe fitters' art and trade. The lines carried would compare favorably with those found in any store in the larger cities. The shoes are conservatively selected for their fitting and wearing qualities, while the prices are the very lowest possible on high grade foot wear.
