Mr. Louis Codrey, the enterprising proprietor, was born in Iowa in 1879. He received his education in this city and is a valued member of the K. of P. He is highly esteemed by all who know him.


CRIS GOSH.

      Metropolitan business methods, good goods and moderate prices are distinctive features of this mercantile establishment located at 130 North Cedar Street. The business was established in 1899 and since that time has been headquarters among all classes when dry goods, millinery, cloaks, furnishing goods, etc., are desired. The best grades in all lines are handled with a guarantee of satisfaction accompanying all purchases. 2,000 square feet of floor space is utilized by this complete stock and five courteous salesmen are in attendance at all times. The latest styles and most attractive patterns always being found here with the assurance that you are trading with one of the most up-to-date stores in the city.


J. L. HARNER & COMPANY.

      Located at the northwest corner of the square is to be found one of the neatly arranged grocery stores of this city. This business became established in Nevada in 1886. It has been operated at this location since 1902. The best in imported and domestic groceries, canned goods, flour, feed, fruit, vegetables, smoked and dried meat, produce, etc, is handled in large and conservatively selected lines. Six assistants are required while two wagons are kept busy delivering the products to the hundreds of satisfied customers. 2,500 square feet of floor space is utilized in the attractive displays Mr. J. L. Harner and Mr. Wm. R. Braham, the proprietors of this popular grocery store, were both born and raised at Fulton, Missouri. They are both valued members of the Masons.

H. R. STEVENS COMPANY.

      One of the heavily stocked as well as leading institutions of this kind in Nevada is that located at 114 North Cedar Street. This business was established in 1890 and has grown to large proportions both in reputation and amount of business conducted. The goods handled are all high grade and purchased from the leading manufacturers in the country with prices positively as low as is consistent with the best. The best makes of pianos, organs, stringed instruments, musical merchandise etc., are handled as well as a complete line of jewelry. Three courteous assistants are employed, each an artist in his line, to take care of the business. In the jewelry department the stock is excelled by no similar concern in this section for the richness of goods as well as the varied and complete line. Mr. C. H. credit to any metropolis. Mr. C. H. Hagood is a watchmaker of wide renown and distinction which is demonstrated by his being chosen by both the M. K. & T. and Missouri Pacific as watch inspector for those roads at this city. Repair work is executed promptly at reasonable prices while a fine line of diamonds, cut glass and all kinds of jewelry notions, watches, clocks, etc., are carried. The proprietors of this firm are H. R. Stevens and Mr. C. H. Hagood. Mr. Stevens was born in Illinois in 1858 and there educated. He is a valued member of the Masons. Mr. C. H. Hagood was born in Springfield, Missouri, in 1876 and educated at that place. He is also a member of the Masons and Elks.


ARCADE HOTEL & RESTAURANT.

      This popular and largely patronized hotel and restaurant is located at 709 East Cherry Street. Mrs. C. A. Heffner,

the proprietress, established this business in 1902. She adopted from the start a policy of fair dealing which have not only built up a large trade but have caused this hotel and its management to become known far and near as the right place to make your headquarters when coming to Nevada. This hotel occupies the fine building directly opposite the Union depot. This house is conducted on the European plan, serving regular meals at 25 cents. Short orders are served either day or night. Fine Mocha and Java coffee and home-made pastry are specialties. Seven courteous assistants are required to take care of and wait on the flowing throng of satisfied customers who populate this place. Mrs. C. A. Heffner is able and efficient. She is a lady of pleasing personality, painstaking and careful in dispensing entertainment of a character very seldom found in a hotel conducted at these prices.


NEVADA STEAM LAUNDRY.

      A laundry whose merits have gained for it a large and remunerative patronage is that of the Nevada Steam Laundry, located at 125 South Main Street. This business was established in 1892. It has been occupying the present quarters since 1906 and gives employment to twenty expert operators. Two wagons are operated to take care of the delivering and picking up of the laundry work. Notwithstanding the opinion of some who have never been in a modern steam laundry like this, such a laundry is operated under sanitary conditions which cannot be equalled in any ordinary home and are seldom excelled by hospitals. Visitors and residents are cordially invited to call and inspect this modern plant.
